Thousands of years of human ingenuity have (arguably) made survival easier and our condition more comfortable. Technological advances have allowed us to conquer climate with houses, distance with engines, and many illnesses with modern medicine. But it is also true that our "intelligence" frequently comes at a price. Take, for instance, the "advances" made in how we've come to feed ourselves. As we have entered into the age of "processed", "packaged", and "pre-made", we have evolved further and further beyond our primal roots, roots that I believe--if lost--would be catastrophic to our species. Simply observe that we are the only species on the planet that uses fire to prepare its food. As a raw foodist with beliefs informed by biomimicry, it is my artistic intention to bridge this divide between our modern lifestyles and something raw, perhaps a higher consciousness, which we have lost. Through the appropriation of forms and colors present in nature, I wish to convey a primal familiarity which can reconnect us to ancient actions as basic as how we once ate.
